Isabel Allende Llona
Isabel Allende is my favorite writer. Being Chilean, she was born in 1942 in Lima, Peru. She is the daughter of Francisca Llona Barros and the diplomat Tomás Allende Pesse -Salvador Allende's cousin-.
Her books have often started from a letter such as La casa de los espíritus (1982) -the best known-, which was originally written for her grandfather who was in Chile, when she lived in Venezuela. And the other book is Paula (1994) -my favorite-, which began as a letter for her sick daughter with the intention of telling her again her life story in case she did not remember anything when she awoke from the coma.
This is why many catalog the work in the autobiographical genre, however, she indicates that it is more like a "memory", because it is a collection of memories closer to fiction than to reality.
The last novel by Isabel Allende was released a few weeks ago and is called Largo Pétalo de Mar (2019), I still do not read it but I hope to do it soon.

I haven't read the books you mention, but I did read the trilogy called "Las Memorias del Águila y el Jaguar" and I liked them very much. Her narrative style was fun and simple.
